Donald Trott -
(Owner)

After a successful career in plumbing for 12 years, I moved into the roofing industry with the aim of developing my administration and people skills. I joined Dimonds in a sales role, becoming Contracts Manager four years later. I was able to change the way in which Dimonds fitted their product, making it more professional and putting pride into the contractors work.

In 1999 Maria and I set up Amalgamated Roofing, at the invitation of Dimonds, who wanted us to take over the supply and fixing of roofs in the Bay of Plenty, leaving them to focus on manufacturing.

Since then, we have gone from strength to strength. By 2002 we had moved into purpose-built workshops in Vaughan Road, Rotorua, which remains our head office.

We are very proud of the rapid expansion of Amalgamated Roofing. We feel that we are setting new standards in the roofing industry.

So, what is the secret of our success?

Good communication and loyalty to customers and suppliers.

There really is no secret. It is a combination of hard work, commitment to quality in everything we do, developing and looking after a skilled workforce and getting the details right.

Also, we are never content with how we go about things. We are always looking for new and better ways to get them done.

I'm proud of the way in which we have got ourselves the reputation of being able to do the tricky and challenging jobs that others walk away from. It shows that we are problem solvers and that we are very good at what we do.

Maria Trott

My background is in administration and I spent 12 years working in the Government Sector.

The opportunity to create Amalgamated Roofing came at just the right time. The combination of Donald's practical experience and my administrative and organizational skills is a perfect match.

Good organization has been a crucial part of our success. We are an efficient, well-organized business. That makes a real difference to our customers. We deliver what we promise and we don't let them down.

Bruce Pearson
(Operations Manager)

Bruce has been involved in the construction industry in Rotorua for over 22 years. An Advanced Trade Certificate qualified builder by trade, and after 10 years on tools, he moved on to work at the local Lockwood Homes franchise with roles progressing through from Building Supervisor, Contracts Manager to Manager.

He then took on a role at the head office of Lockwood, as the Operations Manager for the export division of the company. After 7 years in that role and now wanting to keep his feet firmly on local soil (and roofs), Bruce now joins our team, bringing his considerable knowledge of local and overseas building practices with him.

Rob Potts
(Contracts Supervisor)

Rob is responsible for looking after the day-to-day running of all our contracts. He is also responsible for allocating work to each foremen's gang.

Rob originally started roofing with a Wellington roofing company in 1984 working with torch on and Butynol membrane roofing, rainwater systems and specialised flashing design and manufacture. He is experienced in laying and fixing most forms of long run roofing. He moved to Rotorua in 1986, is NZQA qualified and focused on keeping your building dry and waterproof.

The Foremen

The foreman on each job has a vital task. He is in charge of all aspects of our job on each site. He is responsible for quality control, good work practices, safety, professionalism and keeping our customers happy.

Having good foremen means that the management of the company can concentrate on other things, safe in the knowledge that our high standards are being maintained.

All our foremen and tradesmen are NZQA qualified and have their NZ 15757 working at heights certificate.

The Tradesmen

Our roofers are tradesmen who have undergone training in order to develop their skills and knowledge.

Amalgamated Roofing roofers have developed a reputation for being a cut above the rest. They do a fine professional job.

The Office

Our office staff are the oil that keeps the machine running efficiently.

They make sure that we respond to our customers quickly, that the logistics of the business work well and that the guys on the tools can get on with their job without delay.
